Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision today on South Fourth Street, Danville police said.
About 10:15 a.m., Elena Pascual, 22, of Harrodsburg, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu near Danville Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery on South Fourth Street, police said. Pascual was driving southbound in the right lane and unsuccessfully attempted to make a left turn onto Kerr Avenue, police said. The Malibu struck a 2000 Chevrolet Impala driven by Vivie Smith, 70, of Danville, police said. The impact forced the front of Smith’s Impala to collide with a utility pole, according to police.
Smith and her passenger, Larkin Smith, 75, of Danville, were transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for further medical evaluation. Pascual, who had two small children in the vehicle with her, told police she and the children were not injured.
There was minimum damage to the utility pole. Danville firefighters as well as Boyle County paramedics and deputy sheriffs assisted with clearing the scene of the crash.
