National College to hold career fair

The Danville campus of National College, 115 E. Lexington Avenue, will host a career fair from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday. The event is open to the public.

Area employers from a variety of industries will be on hand. Job seekers are encouraged to come dressed in business attire and bring copies of their resumes.

“Here’s your chance to network with your peers, students, and employers,” said Career Center Director Lacey Ebert. “Employers will be promoting all types of opportunities — externships, part-time and full-time positions. Employers will also welcome questions and offer wisdom and assistance in career development.”

Booth space is free of charge to employers, and limited space remains available. Contact Ebert at (859) 236-6991 or lmebert@national-college.edu for more information.

Alcohol education offered for parents

Tara McGuire of the Kentucky affiliate of Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Danville High School Youth in Action will have a presentation at 5 p.m. Monday at DHS Gravely Hall auditorium. The presentation will provide resources for creating a dialogue between parents and their teens about alcohol. The 45-minute presentation will be followed by information about Alcopops, alcoholic beverages that appeal to youth.

Nurses to be recognized

Nurses will soon be recognized for their extraordinary efforts in caring for their patients. Nurses who work at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford will have the opportunity to be nominated for the nationally recognized DAISY Award.

The awards program offers anyone, including patients, doctors, visitors or other nurses, a way to nominate and honor specific nurses for providing excellent care. Each month, a nurse will be selected from the nominees by nursing administration to receive the award.

Nomination forms are available at various locations throughout McDowell and Fort Logan hospitals and online at www.emhealth.org.

Nurses at both hospitals will have a DAISY information booth in their front lobbies Monday through Friday.
