CRAB ORCHARD — William Anderson “Bill” Rice, of Crab Orchard, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Kindred Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Danville.

He was the husband of Jimmie Lou Manning Simon Rice whom he married in April of 1990. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mamie Luevadia Bishop Rice. 

Bill was the son of Phillip and Eva Hendrickson Rice ans was born in Lincoln County on Feb. 15, 1927. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired employee of the Ford Motor Company having worked for 30 years. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Lou Rice of Lexington; daughters, Sheilah Ellen Rice of Brodhead, and Patricia Wyvonna and her husband Larry Hughes of Franklin; brothers, Eugene (Zelma) Rice of Richmond, Jasper (Wilma) Rice of Westland, Mich., Odell Rice of Bellville, Mich.; sisters Peggy Withers of Stanford, Virdie Hilton of Westland, Mich., Loretha (Jim) Napier of Cincinnati, Mary (Clyde) VanHook of Crab Orchard and Joyce (Jackie) Helton of Westland, Mich.; three grandchildren, James Damon Huges of Ft. Walton, Fla.; Luevadia Renee (Tony) Hamlet of Riverview, Mich., and Christopher Duane (Leslie) Hughes of Franklin; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony Hamlet and Christian Hamlet.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sons, William James and Leland Tracy Rice and three sisters, Isabell Upchurch, Elizabeth Bullins and Virgie Buckner.

Funeral services will be 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Harrodsburg Church of God, 987 South College Street, with Bro. Glen Daugherty officiating. Pallbearers will be Jim and Chris Hughes, Ronnie Lancaster, Anthony Hamlet and Jasper Rice.

Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by the Caswell Saufley American Legion Post #18 .

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard, and from noon-4:30p.m. Tuesday at the Harrodsburg Church of God
