James E. Lyons Sr., 86, of Danville, passed away on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.
Born June 18, 1928, in McClain, Ky., he was a son of the late David E. and Ester Kimble Lyons.
Mr. Lyons was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. For most of his life he was a minister serving at various Free Methodist Churches in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. He enjoyed farming, hunting and woodworking.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 69 years, Freeda Luck Lyons; two sons, James (Gay) Lyons Jr. and Larry Lyons; one brother, Truman Lyons; two sisters, Sarah Bowling and Jean Hobgood; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Lyons was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharian Faye Jett, a brother, Roy M. Lyons, three sisters, Martha Elizabeth Lyons, Patsy Ross Coke and Elsie Dean Hobgood; and two grandchildren, James E. Lyons III and Catrina Jett.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
