Joan Rose Lythcke Kriz, 82, loving wife, mother and grandmother, of Danville, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at her residence after a brief illness.
Born Dec. 2, 1930, in Chicago, she was a daughter of John B. and Estelle Koda Lythcke. She graduated from Carl Schurz High School and Wright Junior College, both in Chicago. Joan was a homemaker and an active and enthusiastic volunteer in many local organizations throughout much of her life. Additionally, she was the box office manager at the Norton Center at Centre College for many years. Joan was the widow of Richard P. Kriz and an active member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She moved to Danville in 1967 with her family and embraced the small-town community and the many opportunities it presented for new friendships and experiences.
She is survived by her children, Daniel Mark (Judy) Kriz of Danville, Barbara (Terry Hunt) Kriz of Lexington and Susan (Alan) Zolin of Park Ridge, Ill.; four grandchildren, Lindsay Kriz, Madeline Kriz, Alexander Hunt and Samuel Hunt; two stepgrandchildren, Lindsey Emerson and Jason Emerson; and a sister-in-law, John (Evelyn) Lythcke.
Two brothers, Charles and John Lythcke, preceded her in death.
The funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Father Tom Farrell will be the celebrant.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Heritage Hospice.
