RICHMOND — Dolly York Powell, 89, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2012, at Berea Health Care Center. She was the widow of Delbert M. Powell Sr.
Mrs. Powell was born on Feb. 7, 1923, in Rockcastle County, and was a daughter of the late Ulysses Grant York and Nellie Rector York. She was a retired seamstress with Cowden Manufacturing in Lancaster. Mrs. Powell was a member of Red House Holiness Church. She loved fishing, cooking and knitting.
Survivors include five sons, Owen Powell (Betty) of Portland, Tenn., Danny Powell (Marie) of Richmond, Delbert Powell Jr. (Janie) of Richmond, Ind., Larry Powell (Cathy) of Berea and Jerry Powell (Lanie) of Stanford; two sisters, Beatrice Hendricks and Pearl Kelly; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in Richmond with Bros. Curt Davis and Elvie Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be James Powell, Tater Powell, Danny Powell, Jeff Powell, Mike Powell and Aaron Wilson.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, at the funeral home.
