Donald Turner
1942-2013
PERRYVILLE — Donald Lewis Turner, 71, of Junction City, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Lexington.
Born Feb. 12, 1942, in Breathitt County, he was a son of the late Robert and Rose Mohland Turner. Donald was a Christian and a retired employee of the University of Kentucky where he was a supervisor with the groundskeeping department. He was also an Army veteran. He was a Breathitt County native, but lived the most of his life in Lexington. After retiring from the University of Kentucky, he moved to Boyle County to be close to his family.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Angela and Steve Appleman and Cynthia and Steve Mitchell; one son and his wife, Donald and Sabrina Turner; and three sisters, Lois Howard and Treva and Brenda Turner. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Wilder Funeral Home by the Rev. Pat Chamberlin, with burial in the Mitchell Family Cemetery in Boyle County. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post No. 18.
Pallbearers will be Tom Byrd, Robert Mitchell, Elmer Dowell, Warren and Gary Westerfield, Drake Frazier and George Johnson.
Visiting hours will be 11 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the funeral home.
