CRAB¿ORCHARD — Homer Day Sr., 87, of Stanford, passed away Fri., Nov. 2, 2012 at his home. He was the widower of Margaret Dean Lewis Day, who preceded him in death in 1991.
Born on Feb. 5, 1925, in Leslie County, he was a son of the late Floyd and Martha Sizemore Day. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Crossroads Assembly of God. Homer was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Lincoln Masonic Lodge No. 60 of Stanford and also an Eastern Star member.
Survivors include four daughters, Brenda Callahan (Danny), Anna Day of Tallapoosa, Ga., Shirley Masters of East Bernstadt and Juanita Rowe (Floyd) of Waynesburg; a stepdaughter, Retha Herron; two sons, Jerry Day (Audrey) of East Bernstadt and Homer Day Jr. (Verna) of Stanford; two brothers, Billy Ray Day (Peggy) of Smilax and Donnell Day (Sarah) of Corbin; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Two sons, Glenn and Ernest Edmond Day, three sisters, Judy Lewis, Leona Eaton and Laura Hogg, and three brothers, Thomas, Jimmy and Jerry Day, preceded Homer in death.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. today at Crossroads Assembly of God Church, 837 S. Main St., Brodhead. Bros. Steven Vanhook and Dale Wyatt will officiate. Burial will follow in Dix River Church of Christ Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Homer Day Jr., Richie Hawley and grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Amos Burdette and Willie Hendrix.
