Howard H. “Sonny” Hixson, 70, of Danville, passed away Thurs., July 26, 2012.  

Born June 29, 1942, in Boyle County, he was a son of the late Howard and Rachel Barnett Hixson. Sonny was a veteran of theU.S. Air Force, having served as an airplane fuel specialist. He was an electrician and loved to hunt, fish, collect guns and knives, and had even built several flint lock rifles himself. He taught hunter safety and education for many years and was a member of several sporting clubs and associations.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 50 years, Marilyn Smith Hixson; three sons, Dale, Troy and Jeffrey Hixson; one brother, Daniel Hixson; one sister, Irma Kenley; and one grandson, Zachariah Hixson.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Per the families’ request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation, 1 Sportsman's Lane, Frankfort, Ky. 40601. This charity helps teach children about hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
