Irene Howell Akers
1930-2013
Irene Akers, 82, wife of John Akers, died Thursday.
Born July 31, 1930, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Walker Howell and Ossie Conn Howell. She was a retired cook.
Other survivors include two sons, Laney (Susan) Akers and David Akers; a daughter, Pam (Sammy) Saddler; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Danny and John Jr.; and one grandchild, Elissa.
Services will be noon Monday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday.
