MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - James LeRoy Hill, 83, of Murfreesboro, Tenn. died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at his home.
A native of Danville, Ky., he was the son of the late Eugene Allen and Nola Haggard Hill. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Hill, and a sister, Patricia Hill.
Mr. Hill was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and retired in 1990 as general manager from International Paper Co. after 34 years of service. He was a 1952 graduate of the University of Kentucky and was a United States Marine. His hobbies were his children and airplanes. Mr. Hill was a member of the Quiet Birdmen.
Mr. Hill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lillian Faulconer Hill; his children, Wade F. Hill and wife Jennifer of Nashville, Tenn., Libby H. Carey and husband Bill of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Allen A. Hill and wife Sandy of Colleyville, Texas; a sister, Doris Macauley and husband Mac of Clinton, Conn.; his grandchildren, William R. “Trey” Carey III and wife Abbey, Shannon E. Hill, James “Ryan” Hill, Janet Adkins and husband Jeff, and Jodi Felts and husband Jon David; and his great-grandchildren, Emma Adkins, Jack Adkins, and Lillian-Broox Carey.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. today at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro with the Rev. Trey Carey, the Rev. George Jones and the Rev. Jim Clardy officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Jeff Adkins, Jon David Felts, Joe Smith, James Frank Reed, Bill Hoevel and Bill Behan serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Taylor, Boyd Cherry, Will Saxby, Buddy Bugg, Bill Bradbury, Joseph Smith, W. R. Carey Sr., J.C. Cook, Jim Price, Doug Hardcastle and Eddie Hutton.
