Julie Van Powell Walls, 56, of Danville, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012.
Born April 19, 1956, in Danville, she was a daughter of the late Bennington Steele and Betty Marcelle Householder Powell. She is a 1974 graduate of Danville High School and a member of Southland Christian Church. Julie was a Heritage Hospice and Red Cross volunteer and a member of the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center auxiliary. She also was a volunteer at Danville-Boyle County Humane Society and Harvesting Hope Food Bank on Fourth Street.
Survivors include her daughter, Regan Collier (Eric) Nichols of Lexington; a sister, Jill M. (Wade) Linger of Fairmont, W.Va.; two brothers, David S. Powell of Lexington and Michael S. Powell of Salvisa; an aunt, Eleanor Farmer MacDonald of Danville; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Sarah.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home. The Rev. David Rizer will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society or Heritage Hospice.
