1958-2013
Leonard Emanuel Fitzgerald, 54, of Danville, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at 9 p.m. after a long illness at Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Nov. 5, 1958, in Boyle County, he was a son of the late Leonard Fitzgerald and Mary Katherine (Fitzgerald) Johnson. He was a graduate of Danville High School in 1977 and a member of the United States Navy from 1978 to 1982.
He leaves to mourn his passing one daughter, Crystal Johnson of Oakridge, Tenn.; four brothers, Robert (Judith) Fitzgerald of Manteca, Calif., Steven and Anthony Fitzgerald, and David Denny, all of Danville; two sisters, Stephanie Denny of Danville, and Renetta Sloan of Nicholasville; his stepfather Dallas B. Fitzgerald; his stepmother, Stella Denny Beavers; an aunt, Bettie Patton; an uncle, George Emanuel Wilhite; two uncles-in-law, Gerald Holman and Lester Patton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and one special friend, Betty Black.
He was preceded in death by an aunt, Lenora Holman of White Plains, N.Y.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Second Street Christian Church. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday until time of service.
