Melia D. Liles
1939-2012
GREENVILLE, Ohio — Melia D. Liles, 73, of New Madison, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, in Greenville.
Born Aug. 15, 1939, in Mintonville, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Ed and Bonnie (Jasper) Hardwick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Denny Hardwick; and three sisters, Marie Brown, Sylvia Rice and Vina Rector.
The seventh of nine children, Melia spent her childhood working on the family farm and socializing at church. She was saved at home after a revival meeting as a teenager with the help of her father. She graduated from Memorial High School and moved to Dayton, Ohio, for work. She met her husband-to-be while working as a carhop at Frisch’s. She went on to raise four children, drive a school bus for handicapped children, and teach Sunday school classes.
An artistic and loving lady, she leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Robert B. Liles, whom she married Dec. 4, 1959; two sons, John Liles of Brookville, Ohio, and Jerry (Diane) Liles of Springboro, Ohio; two daughters, Sandra (Jason) Netzley of Greenville and Sherry (Matthew) Adkins of Kettering, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Daniel, Caleb, Benjamin and Joshua Liles, Lena, Sara, Luke, and Jared Netzley; a great-grandson, Samuel; a brother, Ollis Hardwick; three sisters, Ada Maggard, Lena Rice and Verna Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Faith Baptist Church, 740 Russ Road, Greenville, with Pastor Bill Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Ithaca Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 2-5 p.m.¿Sunday at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville.
