1930-2013
STANFORD — Robert Lee “Bob” Marshbanks, 82, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Ky.
Born Aug. 12, 1930, in Paint Lick, Ky., he was a son of the late Burdette and Geneva Norman Marshbanks. He was the widower of Lyda Belle House Marshbanks.
Bob had delivered milk for Swiss Sanitary Dairy Products and he had been a milk distributor for Southern Bell Dairy. He was owner operator of the Stanford Convenient Store from June 1979 to 2005. He also was the owner of the Liberty Convenient Store from 1984 to 1994; this business currently is Circle K. He was a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church in Stanford.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia “Gin” Marshbanks of Stanford; a son, Marvin Marshbanks (Rhonda) of Stanford; a stepdaughter, Sherry Harden Stanley (Henry) of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Wanda Long of Harrodsburg, Ky., and Kathleen Preston of Lancaster, Ky.; four grandchildren, Dr. Matthew Marshbanks (Melissa), Amanda Marshbanks, Bridgette Withrow Lynn (Danny) and Ty Withrow (Lauren); six stepgrandchildren, Melissa Stanley, Kevin and Kasey Stanley, Kennedy Harden, Bailey Harden and Brianna Harden; and four great-grandchildren, Addison Claire Marshbanks, Grant Matthew Marshbanks, Ally Lynn and Tinley Lynn.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Jo Marshbanks Withrow; a stepson, Brian Harden; a brother, Gilbert Marshbanks; and two sisters, Edna and Helen Marshbanks.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Spurlin Funeral Home. The Revs. Stewart Dawson and William Herndon will officiate the service. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
Casketbearers will be Dr. Matt Marshbanks, Donnie Bailey, Ernest Hensley Jr., Dr. John Mark Gooch, Roger Meek, Bobby Baker, Mike Bastin and Donald Adams.
