JUNCTION¿CITY — Ruth Allene Gordon Cook, 81, of Danville, died Saturday, July 7, 2012.  

Born Sept. 13, 1930, in Boyle County, she was the daughter of Samuel Lumby and Ethel Faye Nevius Gordon. Ruth began working at American Greetings the opening day of the Danville plant and retired in 1996. She is a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and had read the Bible completely several times. She collected dolls and Depression Era glassware, and was a needleworker. Ruth was a dedicated and nurturing wife, mother and grandmother. 

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Richard P. Cook; two daughters, Carolyn (John) Ellis of Danville and Peggi (Bill) Fillingim of Stanford; a son, Jerry R. (Darlene) Cook of Danville; two sisters, Frances Montgomery of Danville and Ethel Pearl (Raymond) Payne of Shepherdsville; a brother, Alvin (Pat) Gordon of Bardstown; a sister-in-law, Nora Gordon; seven grandchildren, Kristi (Tim) Blakemore, David Cook, Jeremy (Crystal) Ellis, Jonathan (Trisha) Ellis, Jordan (Anna) Ellis, Brian (Melissa Walls) Clarkson and Eric Clarkson, eight great-grandchildren, Joseph Blakemore, Xavier Ellis, Lex Ellis, Trulea Ellis, Anika Ellis, Andrew Ellis, Ryan Clarkson and Michael Butler; and a great-great grandson, Kian Clarkson.

She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Hazel Fuell, Estil Gordon, Robert Gordon, Mary Osa Gordon, Erbie Gordon and Edith Ellis.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. The Rev. Steve James and John Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. The grandchildren will be pallbearers.  

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City.  

Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice or Sadie’s Animal Rescue.
