STANFORD — In the fullness of His time, God called Vivian Wilson Hester Sims home. Mrs. Sims died at age 87 on Sept. 26, 2011.  
Mrs. Sims lived at McDowell Place of Danville, formerly of Dogwood Drive, Stanford, Ky. She was the widow of Wesley H. Sims.

Born Oct. 11, 1923, in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Amanda Ursula Burnett Wilson and Chester Campbell Wilson. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Hardin Hester, the father of her three sons. Mrs. Sims was a long-standing member of Stanford Baptist Church and a retired bookkeeper for Lincoln County National Bank. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend.  
Survivors include her three sons and their wives, Henry Gerald Hester (Katherine) of Lexington, Jon Campbell Hester (Judy) and Jimmy Lee Hester (Judith), both of Stanford; a stepdaughter, Terry J. Sims Campbell of Louisville, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Henry Hardin Hester II (Kristina) of Pittsburgh, Pa., John Campbell Hester II (Alison) of Corolla, N.C., Sarah Hester Sheene (Scott) of Stanford, Ky., David Brackstan Duncan (Tonya) of Winchester, Ky., James Zachary Hester (Eli) of Bagdad, Ky., and Amanda S. Hester Foster (Damon) of Stanford, Ky.;  stepgrandchildren, Cary B. Howard (Kathy) of Lexington, Ky., Gordon Campbell Jr. (Ann) of Louisville, Ky., Jamie Campbell Megginson (Maurice) of Lynchburg, Va., and Wesley Aaran Campbell of Louisville, Ky.; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Audrey J. W. Hickmott of Warren, Mich., and Mrs. Delphine C.W. Parrott (Paul) of Lexington, Ky.; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mildred Hester Goodwin of Stanford, Ky., Mrs. Georgia S. Hoover of Harrodsburg, Ky., and Mrs. Patsy Sims of Burgin Ky.; two special nieces, Mrs. Ursula Hickmott Hess (Kenneth) of Warren, Mich., and Mrs. Cynthia Parrott Beebout (Scott) of Lexington, Ky.; and a special nephew, Michael Craig Parrott (Cynthia) of Lexington, Ky. Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by one infant sister and three infant brothers.
Mrs. Sims lived her life with grace, gratitude and generosity to her family and friends.  
Family and friends will be received 4-7 p.m. today at Spurlin Funeral Home, 411 W. Main St., Stanford.
A private, family graveside service and burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford, KY.
