SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — William Robert Skimmerhorn Sr., 87, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away Wed., Nov. 21, 2012.
He was born Feb. 7, 1925, in Danville, the son of William R. and Pearl Sims Skimmerhorn. William was in the Merchant Marines during World War II and the United States Army during the Korean War. He had been a truck driver for Complete Transport, but mostly had an entrepreneurial spirit, trying his hand at many endeavors.
William is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Sheila L. Cash Skimmerhorn; two sons, Michael Skimmerhorn of Cincinnati and Curt (Stacey) Smith of Springfield, Ohio; two daughters, Pamela (Daniel) Kastrup of Cincinnati and Faith (Gary) Schiffer of Springfield, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Brandon, Derek, Kelly, Casey, David, Sara, Joshua, Barry, Austin and Wyatt; and a great-grandson, Xander.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Robert Skimmerhorn Jr.; and the mother of his children, Betty Laster Brown.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at Faith Temple Church of God, 205 Otter St. in Danville with Pastor Roger Herrig of Trinity Lutheran Church, Springfield, Ohio, officiating.
