STANFORD — William Carl “Bill” Rogers, 74, of Stanford, passed away Fri., March 15, 2013, at his home.
Born Nov. 11, 1938, in Stanford, he was a son of the late James Edward and Alberta Lee McGuire Rogers. He was a conductor for Norfolk Southern Railroad and retired after 33 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joan Rogers; three sons, William Eric (Cara) Rogers of Danville, and James Scott (Cindy) Rogers and William Carl “Buck” (Shawn) Rogers II, both of Stanford; a stepson; Johnny (Cindy) Hardwick of West Virginia; three daughters, Mimi Rogers of Stanford, and Lori (Steve) Morris and Tori (Jason) Gaffney, both of Danville; a brother, Wayne (Alice) Rogers of Wilmore; a sister, Nellie Rogers of Lexington; 13 grandchildren, Hannah Hardwick, Jacob Rogers, Tyler Morris, Cody Morris, Brittany Rogers Davis, Jami Rogers, Levi Rogers, Ryan Douglas, Sarah Rogers, Deziree Rogers, Grace Gaffney and Luke Gaffney; two great-grandchildren; Kinley Davis and Tabby Holden; two nephews, Benjamin Rogers and Alexander Rogers of Wilmore; and a niece, Nichole Williams of Evansville, Ind.
A daughter, Carla Joan Rogers, preceded him in death.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tues., March 19, 2013, at Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. Vola Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Mon., March 18, 2013, at the funeral home.
Casketbearers will be Jacob Rogers, Tyler Morris, Cody Morris, Levi Rogers, Jason Gaffney and Gary Carter. Honorary bearers will be Chris Spears, Bill Barber, David Hensley, Gary Burton, R.C. Taylor, Doug Brickey, R.W. “Buckwheat” Gilbert, Jim “Tuffy” Hester and Kevin from Rocky Top Produce.
