FREETOWN, IND. — Mrs. Mae Edna Gastineau, 92, of Freetown, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour, Ind.

Born March 31, 1920, in Dennison, Ohio, she was the daughter of Walter and Alta VanHoozer Smith.

On April 20, 1937, in Highland, Ky., she married James A. Gastineau, who preceded her in death Oct. 11, 2007.

Mrs. Gastineau was a member of Freetown United Methodist Church and a homemaker. 

Survivors include her children, James Clifford Gastineau, Wayman (Ruby) Gastineau, Arnold Gastineau, Loyd Gastineau and Carol Dixon; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Mildred Wingler; four brothers; and a sister.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Voss Chapel with the Rev. David Ison officiating. A Voss dove release will follow the service. 

A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford, Ky. 

Friends may call 9 a.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel until time of service.
