We received a letter from Duane Campbell, Boyle County engineer, stating that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has changed its flood zone and that we may be affected.

We were instructed to contact him and make an appointment to look at the new flood map. Well, he couldn’t read the map, so he said he would have to call Frankfort.

We then made an appointment with County Judge-Executive Harold McKinney, and he couldn’t show him a map, either. We were assured they would contact Frankfort and show us the flood map.

The last we heard was, “There is nothing we can do for you, sorry.”

We have contacted FEMA, but they won’t return our calls. We have called someone in Frankfort. He won’t return our calls. We have questions. We pay our taxes. We deserve answers.

We want to know what our flood risk is. We want to know our flood plain. We want to see this flood map and when it was implemented.

We want to see the map as it was when we built our house six years ago. Approval was given to build on this property, which was not in a flood zone.

We have waited over one month for answers, and no one will give us one.

Please give us the answers to our questions. We deserve it after all this new stress that’s been placed on us.
