CARPINTERIA -- A man in Santa Barbara County has been arrested for allegedly secretly videotaping a woman with a camera hidden inside a "Chicken Soup for the Soul" book in her bedroom.
Donald Lee Bedford was arrested Thursday. Detectives seized computers and other items from his home in Carpinteria.
The woman found a hole had been cut in the spine of the book, which was on a bookshelf in her bedroom, according to Sheriff's spokesman Drew Sugars.
When she opened the book, she found the camera, which had been aimed at her bed.
The recordings showed the woman and her boyfriend "in various states of undress," according to Sugars.
Beford is apparently a friend of one of the woman's relatives.
