Kyle Cook of Centre College has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division III national player of the week.
Cook, a sophomore outfielder who was earlier named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference player of the week, batted .692 (9 for 13), scored nine runs and drove in 10 as Centre went 2-2 last week.
He also walked four times, was hit by a pitch, stole four bases, and hit his first three career home runs.
Cook had a .778 on-base percentage and a 1.385 slugging percentage for the week, and raised his season average 80 points to .343.
He continued his strong play in Tuesday's 11-10 loss to Maryville (Tenn.) by going 3 for 5 with two runs scored and three driven in, including a two-run home run in the second inning. He is now hitting .360 with four home runs, 23 RBIs and 17 runs scored in 26 games.
