Centre Sports: Softball team splits doubleheader with Mount St. Joseph

The Centre College softball team split two games with Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday at Millennium Park, winning the nightcap 8-0 after losing the opener 7-3.
Emily Landherr pitched a five-inning two-hitter for Centre (14-19) in its win, walking only one batter.
Ashley Christian had three hits for the Colonels.
Mount St. Joseph (6-25) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the first game, then broke the game open with four more runs in the third inning.
Christian, Hannah Simpson and Katie Martello had two hits each for Centre. Emily Meador took the loss, allowing 13 hits.

Baseball

Kyle Cook was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference player of the week after hitting .692, including the first three home runs of his career.
Cook, a sophomore outfielder, went 9 for 13 in games played April 9-15, scored nine runs and drove in 10 to help Centre go 2-2.
