Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City has announced a revised schedule and increased purses for the remainder of the 2011 racing season.
After speaking with several drivers, Ponderosa has decided to cancel races set for tonight to allow local racers to attend events being held at other tracks this weekend.
The track will resume racing on July 22 with the rescheduled Pete Abell Memorial, a 40-lap super late models feature paying $3,000 to win.
The new schedule, with featured races listed:
July 22 — Pete Abell Memorial, super late models, $3,000 to win; open wheel modifieds, $1,000 to win; sportsman, $1,000 to win.
Aug. 5 — John Bradshaw Memorial, super late models, $3,000 to win; open wheel modifieds, $1,000 to win; sportsman, $1,000 to win.
Sept. 10 — Bulls World 100, 100-lap event, super late models, $3,000 to win; open wheel modifieds, $1,000 to win; sportsman, $1,000 to win.
Sept. 30 — Friday Night Rumble, super late models, $3,000 to win; open wheel modifieds, $1,000 to win.
Oct. 1 — Fall Classic, super late models, $5,000 to win; open wheel modifieds, $1,000 to win; sportsman, $1,000 to win.
