The Centre College men’s basketball team won its sixth straight game Friday, beating host Millsaps 56-42 at Jackson, Miss.
Josh Karsner scored a game-high 19 points, Donovan Whiteside had 14 points and six rebounds, and freshman Tyler Wesley had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Colonels (8-2, 2-0 Southern Athletic Association).
Millsaps led 18-12 with 5:26 left in the first half, but Centre scored 14 of the final 15 points of the half and led 26-19 at the break.

Centre finished 22 of 52 from the floor, hitting six o f17 3-pointers, and went 6 of 7 at the line.
Millsaps was 16 of 44 shooting (36 percent).
“We guarded them really, really well,”¿Centre coach Greg Mason said. “We forced 17 turnovers, so defensively, it was a really good effort.
“Offensively, we’re still trying to find our way. But we did hit shots when we needed to kind of get some distance and push our selves through. I feel good about this win because it’s so hard to travel and it’s tough on the road, especially with a young team.”
Women
Millsaps 63, Centre 57 — the Majors used a 13-2 run in the second half to take the lead for good and hold off the visiting Colonels (3-9, 1-1 SAA).
“We just did not finish down the stretch,”¿Centre coach Wendie Austin-Robinson said. “We gave up big rebounds and plays late and they got us back on our heels a little bit. The kids worked hard, but we didn’t put together a full game.”
Paige Baechle had games highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds for Centre, while Maggie Hartlage scored 16 and Chelsea Benham had 15 points.
It was tied 28-al at the half, and centre led by as many as six points twice early in the second half, the last coming at 38-32 with 13;40 to play.
Millsaps then went on its decisive run, but Centre did cut the lead to 49-48 with 5:51 to play, but could not get back the lead.
