Alex Combs had a goal and four assists Saturday, and Mary Taylor Kersey scored two goals to lead the Centre College women’s soccer team to a 7-0 win over visiting Marietta.
Kersey scored first for Centre (2-0), then Hannah Kroskie scored off a pass from Combs, a Boyle County graduate, for a 2-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Combs had an unassisted goal, then assisted on goals by Kersey, Morgan Collins and Katie Stevenson. Annastasia Hicks then capped off scoring off a pass from Meagan Redding.
Centre outshot Marietta 19-2, and Megan Foley had two saves.
Cross Country
Centre women finish third — At Rome, Ga., Ashley El Rady placed 10th out of 138 runners Saturday to help the Centre College women’s cross country team to a third place finished at the Sewanee Berry Cross Country Invitational.
El Rady finished in a time of 24 minutes, 9.54 seconds.
Mississippi State won with 15, followed by Emory University with 78 points.
Also placing in the top 20 for Centre was Emily Akin in 17th place with her time of 24 minutes, 21,08 seconds, followed by Hannah Ellis in 23rd (24:32.37), Amanda Voukon in 31st (24:52.11), Cristin Palmer in 44th (25:57.62), Annie Wigginton in 49th (26:18.36), Camille Seger in 68th (27:09.75), Kate Evans in 71st (27:20.02), Katie Coldiron in 74th (27:25.97), Ashley Eklund in 83rd (28:14.92), Kristen means in 96th (28:50.66), Guadalupe Delgado in 99th (28:56.82), Monica Pace was 101st (29:22.43).
Victor Pataky led the Centre men with a 46th place finish in 28:38.02. Also for th Colonels, J.J. Crumpler was 60th (29:18.07), Eddie Alcock was 83rd (30:33.82), Matt gilbert was 88th (30:50.24), brent joplin was 90th (31:12.59), Michael Fryar was 94th (31:25.77).
The Colonels finished 12th with a score of 302. Mississippi State won with 36 points and University of the Cumberlands was second with 95 points.
