Danville’s Meagan Smith edged out Butler’s Rose Jolly on Saturday to break the course record and win the Tates Creek Invitational at Masterson Station Park.
Smith won the 3.1-mile race in a time of 19 minutes, 13.3 seconds, edging Jolly by a half-second.
Hillbilly Run
At Bardstown, Boyle County’s Nikki¿Coffey finished seventh in a personal-best time of 20 minutes, 5.5 seconds to lead area runners at the Nelson County Hillbilly Run.
Lincoln County’s Morgan Gourley finished 13th in the girls race in 20:54. The Boyle girls finished eighth with a score of 211. South Oldham won with a score of 36, easily beating runner-up DuPont Manual (91).
Also for Boyle, Ada Benson was 32nd (22:28.56), Lena Hutchins was 46th (22:59.44), Samantha Price was 69th (26:19.62), Sanna Mahammad was 78th (27:44.09) and Delaney Overstreet finished 80th (27:52.09).
On the boys side, Boyle’s Austin Anderson was 23rd (17:55.06) and Nick Fluty was 83rd (22:56.31). For the Lincoln boys, Jordon Smith was 54th (19:18.78) and Luke Smith was 77th (21;39.34.
