Prep Basketball: Boyle girls defeat Lexington Christian 70-58

Chelsea Gill and Marlee Smith combined for 14 points in the fourth quarter Monday night to help the Boyle County girls defeat Lexington Christian 70-58 at Danville.

Gill finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds and Smith had 14 points and six rebounds as Boyle (11-10) snapped a four-game losing streak.

They helped the Rebels recover after LCA (10-9) rallied from a 35-23 halftime deficit to pull within 45-44 late in the third quarter.

“We just kind of battled back,” Boyle assistant coach Chad Mayes said. “Chelsea and Marlee kind of took the game over at the end, and we forced a lot of turnovers and we were able to pick the tempo back up.”

Boyle forced 22 turnovers.

Katelin Bundy had 24 points for LCA.
