Prep Basketball: Casey girls outlast Pulaski 56-49

Lakken Miller scored 20 points to lead the Casey County girls to a 56-49 victory over Pulaski County on Tuesday night at Liberty.

Host Casey (8-7, 4-1 47th District) cashed in at the free-throw line to win its sixth straight game. In a game in which more than 40 fouls were called, the Rebels were 27 for 42 at the foul line, while the Maroons were 15 for 29.

Casey trailed by as many as eight points in the first half, but the Rebels rallied when Pulaski’s Brittany Warren fell into foul trouble. They led 25-23 at halftime and maintained their lead through the second half.

Jasmine Johnson had 13 points and Tiara Cochran had 12 for Casey, which shot 34 percent (13 for 38) from the field and went 3 for 15 from 3-point range. Christin Terry had 11 rebounds for the Rebels, who were outrebounded 27-24, and Cochran had three steals.

Haley Warren had 20 points and Sarah Correll had nine rebounds for Pulaski, which shot 33 percent (15 for 46) from the field and was 4 for 22 from long range.

Casey committed only 11 turnovers and forced 16.
