Devin Conley and Kelly Smith each eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau Friday night in the Garrard County girls’ 68-30 rout of visiting North Laurel.
Conley finished with 15 points, while Smith had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Lions (2-0), who shot 52.8 percent from the floor (28 of 53).
Ryan Cain had 12 points, Victoria Floyd had 15 points and eight boards and Conley and Courtney Kidd each had three assists.
Garrard trailed 10-7 after the first quarter but outscored North Laurel by 19 points in the second to take a 34-18 halftime lead. The Lions stretched that to 56-23 after three quarters.
“We started out slow, started settling for jump shots,”¿Garrard coach Scott Bolin said. “When we decided to take advantage of our size and started hitting the glass, good things happened for us. We were 25 of 39 from two-point range. It was a solid game for us once we woke up.”
Garrard outrebounded North Laurel 28-15, grabbing 13 offensive rebounds, and was 9 of 11 at the foul line.
Wesley Christian 44, Danville Christian Academy 24 — At Lexington, the Warriors fell behind 13-3 after a quarter and could never catch up in a loss to Wesley christian in the KCAA¿Holiday Classic.
Katherine Raines scored 10 points with two rebounds, six blocks, four steals and three assists.
DCA shot 26 percent from the floor and had 18 turnovers.
Saturday’s Games
Burgin 56, Pineville 46 — At Pineville, Taylor Sanders scored 18 points to lead Burgin (2-1) to a road win over Pineville a night after a 74-38 loss to Danville.
Danville Christian Academy 40, Oak Ridge 36, OT — At Harrodsburg, Katherine Raines scored 20 points with 10 rebounds and two blocked shots to lead DCA¿(5-1) over Oak Ridge in overtime.
DCA led 30-19 after three quarters before Oak Ridge forced overtime. Shayla Smith had five assists for the Warriors.
“We made it a point to be more aggressive and active this game and it showed with 29 deflections. We ended up in foul trouble from the second quarter until the end of the game, with three starters eventually fouling out,”¿DCA coach Jamie Middleton said. “All of our girls played much better than Friday evening, with a tough game experience under our belt.”
