Prep Basketball: Jacob Conway scores 22 as Lincoln boys beat Harlan County
Jacob Conway made 13 of 14 free throws and scored 22 points Saturday to lead Lincoln County to a 60-54 win over Harlan County at the Dunkin’ Donuts Shootout at Lexington Catholic.
Brandon Pittman scored 12 points and B.J. Hoover added 11 for the Patriots 7-9), who have won three straight.
Lincoln had 12 assists on its 15 baskets, going 15 of 33 from the floor and 22 of 27 at the free throw line. Lincoln made 15 of 18 at the line in the final four minutes to help pull out the win. Timmy Taylor had five assists for the Patriots, who led 32-26 at the half.
Danville Christian Academy 65, Fox Creek 48 — At Harrodsburg, Zach Tarter scored 18 points and grabbed 21 rebounds and led four players in double figures in a win over Fox Creek Christian.
Daniel Crall had 13 points and three steals, Caleb¿tarter scored 12 points and Landon Sears had 10 points for DSA¿(8-4), which led 28-18 at the half and 46-34 after three quarters. The Warriors were 28 of 68 from the floor 7 of 15 at the line. Paul Robertson had five assists.
Girls Games
Mercer County 72, Burgin 39 — At Burgin, Catheryne Claunch scored 17 points and Cassidy Martin 18 to lead the Titans (9-4, 2-0) to an easy 46th District win over the host Bulldogs.
Mercer led 24-10 after the first quarter and 44-14 at the half.
“We got off to a good start, which I was glad to see because we hadn’t played in a week,”¿said Mercer coach Chris Souder, whose team shot 24 of 55 from the floor and made 10 of 24 3-pointers.
Burgin (8-8, 1-1) was led by Randi Burke’s 13 points, while Taylor Sanders had 12 and Summer Burke 11 points.
Micah Christian 41, Danville Christian Academy 37 — At Louisville, the Warriors (8-7) saw their fourth quarter rally fall short in a loss to Micah Christian.
Katherine Raines scored 13 points with 13 rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocked shots for DCA, which trailed 20-14 at the half and 25-17 after three quarters before making the game close.
“We started out flat and then picked up our intensity after halftime. We looked like two different teams, awful in the first half and awesome in the second half,”¿coach Jamie Middleton said. “Our defensive intensity we brought at the start of the third quarter propelled our comeback.

LIGHT¿72, Berea Christan 52 — At Berea, Cameron Owens scored 20 points and Macklin¿Hamilton added 17 for LIGHT¿(13-6) in a win at Berea.
Andrew Knoll had 15 points for LIGHT, which led 32-18 at the half and 52-34 after three quarters.
Owens added sevens assists, Hamilton had six assists and Montana Schemansk had seven boards in just nine minutes.
I am pleased with our team effort. We were out of two weeks. No practice but good break,”¿coach Kevin Hamilton said. “I am very happy to see our team having 18 assists. Montana has really improved so much. We may see him in action more often.”
