Sydney Harris (December 2, 2012)

Sydney Harris looked at several colleges before settling on one which felt like home to her.
The Lincoln County senior has signed to play college basketball at King College in Bristol, Tenn.
“It’s just a great school in general, it’s not completely focused on basketball, but the academic side, too,”¿Harris said.
Harris said she was looking at Davidson and Southeast Missouri, but felt at home at King. She talked to the coaches when she was playing AAU basketball for Kentucky Premier. She took an unofficial visit this summer, then went back in October for an official visit and said she “really loved it.”
“I got to meet the girls and the coaches, and they were all welcoming and we all got along well,”¿Harris said. “And it reminded me a lot of my high school team because we’re so close-knit. And I thought it was just the place for me.”
Harris averaged 11.2 points and 6.7 rebounds last season as the Patriots reached the state semifinals.
Harris said she will probably play the power forward or small forward spot in college. So she has really worked hard on making her outside game better.
“That’s what I’ve been trying to develop over the summer playing with Premier,”¿she said.
Now that her college choice is out of the way, Harris said she is glad she can focus on getting a second-straight regional title for the Patriots.
“It’s really a relief because now I don’t have to worry about college like most high school students do,”¿she said. “I’ve already been accepted, so I don’t have to worry about applying anywhere or any visits.”
