Caroline McDonald shot a personal-best 76 Saturday to lead the sixth-ranked Boyle County girls golf team to a second place finish in a tournament at Juniper Hills in Frankfort.
There were 17 teams competing and four of the top six teams in the state were represented,”¿said Boyle coach Sandy Waters, referring to Sacred Heart, Henry Clay, Shelby County and Boyle.
Sacred Heart won with a score of 307, followed by Boyle with a 329 and Henry Clay with a 332.
“(Coach) Sharon (Beasley) and I were very pleased to see how well our team finished today. As we've said before, Henry Clay and Anderson County will be the teams to beat at the regional tournament,”¿Waters said. “It was a great confidence booster for our team to see it can be done. However, the scores are very close and we have to continue to stay focused in practice. As always, the short game will make the difference.”
