J.B. Williams battled through the rain on the front nine Saturday to shoot a 4-under par 67 and win the title at the All “A”¿Classic state golf tournament at Eagle’s Nest Country Club in Somerset.
Danville coach Marc Williams said Danville “was glad that their coach had forced them to finish a practice round in the rain last Sunday. They were wet and wanted to just pack it in.”
Williams had the only sub par round Saturday. Andrew McKinney shot a 2-over par 73 and finished tied for second and Spencer McKinney tied for ninth with his 77. Nick¿Serey was in an automobile accident on Friday and did not play Saturday.
Jackson County won the team title with a score of 319, followed by Paducah St. Mary and Newport Central Catholic.
Girls Soccer
Corbin 4, Danville 0 — At Corbin, the Danville girls soccer team dropped its third straight game in a shutout at Corbin.
Danville fell to 4-4-2 with the loss, with all three losses shutouts during the Admirals’ current slide.
Volleyball
Danville loses at SMASH —¿At Lawrencburg, the Danville volleyball team dropped all five matches this weekend at the Anderson County SMASH¿Invitational.
On Saturday, the Admirals (2-16) lost to Spencer County 25-15, 25-7, Western Hills 25-10, 25-10 and Monticello 25-16, 25-16.
On Friday, Danville fell to Western Hills 25-16, 25-8 and Anderson 25-16, 25-10.
