Prep Soccer: Boyle, Lincoln girls win 45th District semifinals

Meghan Paynter and Hannah Harris scored three goals each to lead the Boyle County girls to a 10-0 victory over Garrard County in a 45th District Tournament semifinal Monday at Stanford.
No. 21 Boyle advanced to the championship game Wednesday against host Lincoln County, which defeated Danville 3-0 in the other semifinal Monday.
Lakin Wren, Madelyn LaFavers, Alexis Kerbaugh and Chelsea Gill scored one goal each for Boyle (12-5-3). LaFavers, Gill and Kerbaugh had one assist each.
“I was pleased with how we played,” Boyle coach Brian Deem said. “We played with purpose tonight, passed the ball really well and were able to find some gaps to send some penetrating passes through, and we had our finishing boots on.”
Garrard (5-14-1) failed to score for the fourth straight game.
Lincoln County 3, Danville 0 — Lincoln (13-3-2) scored twice in 4 minutes late in the first half to take control of its semifinal against Danville (7-8-3).
The Patriots scored on an own-goal with 9:15 left in the half, then took the lead on a free kick. They sealed their win by scoring with 3 minutes remaining in the game.
Lincoln outshot Danville 8-7 and had a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks. Danville goalkeeper Katie Nelson had eight saves.

Boys

Danville 10, Garrard County 0 — At Lancaster, Christian Gateskill-Fuqua scored six goals as the Admirals (10-7-2) rolled over the host Golden Lions (5-7-1) in a 45th District Tournament semifinal.
Danville plays Lincoln County, which defeated Boyle County 4-2 in Monday's other semifinal, in the district final Wednesday at Garrard.
Shawn Ramos scored twice and Damir Karapandzic and Noe Ayala each scored once for the Admirals, who outshot Garrard 18-0.
Calvin Steber, Corey Steber, Gateskill-Fuqua, Ayala and Ramos all had assists. Danville led 7-0 at the half, and Karapandzic’s penalty-kick goal early in the second half ended the game.
