The Danville girls snapped a string of three straight shutout losses Monday night with a 1-0 victory at Somerset.
Fariha Siddiqui found the back of the net in the first half during the 25th minute on an assist from Kelsie Madden for Danville (5-4-2), which had last scored in an Aug. 28 win over Southwestern.
The Admirals finished with 15 shots on goal and eight corner kicks. Goalkeeper Katie Nelson had three saves for Danville on three shots by Somerset (1-3), which also had two corner kicks.
Mercer County 8, Marion County 0 — At Lebanon, Shannon Murray scored five goals as visiting Mercer (8-3) rolled over Marion (1-7) for its fifth consecutive victory.
Samanthan Travillian, Cheyanne Brown and Sayuri Perez scored one goal each for the Titans, while Travillian, Madeline Bartley, Olivia Mobley, Gentry Brown and Erika Kehrt had one assist each.
Boys
Mercer County 7, Thomas Nelson 0 — At Harrodsburg, No. 14 Mercer (10-2-1) scored three times in the first 13 minutes en route to a rout of Thomas Nelson (6-3).
Mason Angel, Landon Souder and Alex Bosse staked the host Titans to a quick 3-0 lead, and Souder and Bosse went on to score two goals each.
Chase Barnett and Ty Byrd also scored for Mercer, which led 6-0 at halftime, while Angel, Matthew Raskin, Matt Gammon and Dylan Carss had one assist each.
"We used the second half to get a look at some reserves in different positions. Some things worked, some didn't. It was good to get these guys some clock and some rest for the starters," Mercer assistant coach Tim Shannon said.
Southwestern 7, Garrard County 3 — At Lancaster, Garrard (2-5) snapped a two-game winning streak with a loss to Southwestern (5-3-2).
The game included seven yellow cards and one red card.
“It was just very sloppy both ways, us and them,” Garrard coach Kevin Green said. “It was just a game that you want to forget and leave behind you, and I feel like it was just a little speed bump for us. It wasn’t like I’ve seen these kids play before.”
