The Mercer County girls answered Montgomery County’s first goal within 8 seconds late in the first half Saturday and went on to a 3-2 victory at Harrodsburg.
Montgomery (5-8) scored with about 8 minutes remaining in the first half, after which Shannon Murray drove the ball straight down the field, dribbled through the defense and scored the first of her two goals for Mercer (10-5-1).
Erika Kehrt gave the Titans the lead with about 2 minutes left in the half off a corner kick from Samantha Travillian.
The Indians tied the game early in the second half, but Mercer controlled the rest of the game and got another goal from Murray to go in front to stay.
Madison Southern 2, Danville 0 — At Danville, Madison Southern (14-1) scored once in each half to defeat Danville (7-7-2).
The Eagles scored in the 26th and 57th minutes.
The Admirals outshot Madison Southern 6-5, but the Eagles had a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Katie Nelson had four saves for Danville.
