The Boyle County girls scored first but couldn’t find the net again as they lost 4-1 to Lexington Catholic in a battle of ranked teams Monday night at Lexington.
Sarah Gorman scored three goals for No. 10 Lexington Catholic (8-6-2), all in the first half, after No. 18 Boyle (10-4-1) had taken a 1-0 lead.
“The senior leadership of Lexington Catholic, they were just a little bit stoo strong, had a little bit too much speed for us tonight,” Boyle coach Brian Deem said.
Chelsea Gill scored the Rebels’ lone goal on a header off an assist from Kelly Padgett.
Mercer County 1, Lincoln County 1, tie — At Stanford, Shannon Murray and Maddie Adams each scored as Mercer (10-5-1) and Lincoln (10-3-2) played to a draw.
Murray gave Mercer a 1-0 lead early in the second half.
Adams tied the game for Lincoln with just under 8 minutes to play on a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box.
Lincoln has won or tied nine of its last 10 games; Mercer has won or tied 10 of its last 12.
Lafayette 3, Danville 0 — At Lexington, Lafayette (8-8-1) scored two goals within less than a minute in the second half to pull away from Danville (6-6-2).
Leading 1-0, the Generals doubled their score with 7:27 to play, then scored again 53 seconds later. They got their first goal 3 minutes into the game, but the Admirals then held them scoreless for about 69 minutes.
Lafayette outshot Danville 14-3. Danville goalkeeper Katie Nelson had 11 saves.
