Samantha Sandidge had a hat trick in the first half and scored four goals in all to lead the Danville girls to a 9-0 victory over Taylor County in their home opener at Reynolds Field.
Danville (3-1-2) extended its unbeaten streak to five games after scoring five goals in the first half, and the Admirals held a 17-0 advantage in shots over Taylor (2-3).
Sandidge’s first goal gave Danville a 2-0 lead, and she tacked on two more goals before the first half was finished to make it 5-0. She also had an assist in the half on a goal by Fariha Siddiqui.
Abby Sallee scored in the first half for the Admirals, and Cassity Teater, Fariha Siddiqui and Hibah Siddiqui each scored in the second half. Cloe Anderson had two assists, and Teater had one.
Boyle County 2, Anderson County 0 — At Lawrenceburg, No. 19 Boyle (5-1) scored twice before a 90-minute weather delay, then held off Anderson (2-3-1) in the rain when play resumed.
Madeline LaFavers scored the Rebels’ first goal midway through the first half, then assisted on a goal by Meghan Paynter about 5 minutes later.
Play was stopped due to lightning with just over a minute left in the first half. Rain set in after the lightning subsided, and neither team scored in the second half.
“I’m very pleased and proud of our girls to have such a delay to respond and still keep the intensity in their play,” Boyle coach Brian Deem said.
