Hannah Miniard struck out 19 batters Wednesday to lead Boyle County to a 7-3 victory over Western Hills at Frankfort.
Miniard allowed four hits and two walks and did not give up an earned run as she earned a complete-game victory in her season debut for Boyle (2-0).
“Hannah pitched a great game despite the cold tonight,” Boyle coach Brian Deem said.
The wind-chill factor hovered just above 30 degrees for the game.
“I felt like we did a good job through the first five innings trying to stay focused through the cold and the wind,” Deem said.
Western Hills (0-5) scored three unearned runs on three Boyle errors in the sixth inning, but the Rebels got enough offense to prevail.
Danielle Mason went 4 for 4 and drove in a run to lead the Rebels. Hannah Chadwell and Lauren Richards had two hits each, Chadwell stole two bases and Madison DeBord had a two-run double.
