Prep Volleyball: Burgin tops East Jessamine in four games
Burgin improved to 12-7 on the season Thursday with a 25-20, 20-25, 25-18, 25-15 win at East Jessamine.
“It took us a while to find our groove tonight against East. The first and second games were a struggle for us. We played flat, with no energy or enthusiasm. Worst of all, we just weren't having any fun,”¿said Burgin coach Maggie McKnight, whose team finished 4-2 in the 46th District.
“This has been a high stress week for us, with two district matches and the All-“A” (Classic) coming up Saturday. I think we let ourselves get psyched out. I'm proud of how the girls responded to the pressure of splitting the first two sets. We put the second one behind us and pushed forward, taking the next two for the match.”
With the match at one set apiece, sophomore Jesalyn Bradford made her varsity debut and served seven straight points during the Bulldogs’ win in the third set to help propel them to the win.
Garrard County 3, Danville 0 — At Danville, Garrard snapped a five-game losing streak in a 25-14, 25-17, 25-17 win over Danville.
Garrard moved to 4-11 overall and 2-0 in the 45th District, and Danville fell to 3-20 overall and 0-3 in the district.
