Prep Basketball: Kasey Young, Emily Fox and Cassidy Martin get invites to tryout for the Kentucky All-Stars
Three area girls basketball players are among 38 players who have been invited to try out of the Kentucky All-Star team.

Kasey Young of Danville, Emily Fox of Lincoln County and Cassidy Martin of Mercer County are three of the five 12th Region players selected for the tryouts. Also picked were Brittany Warren of Pulaski County and Wayne County’s Jessica Hardin. Invitations will also be issued to player of the year selections from each of Kentucky¿s 16 regions not on originally invited.

Young, an Eastern Kentucky signee, is averaging 20 points and 6.4 rebounds per game and is shooting 75 percent from the free throw line. Fox, who has signed with Austin Peay, is averaging 17 points and 4 boards per game and is shooting 78 percent from the line. Martin leads the area in scoring at 25 points per game and is shooting an area-best 82 percent at the line. She is also averaging 6 rebounds per game and is shooting 52 percent from the field.

No area boys were among the 35 selected for the boys team tryouts, which are March 23-24 at Georgetown College.

“This is the beginning step to formulating to next class of Kentucky All-Stars,” Kentucky game director Dave Satterly said. “We are excited about the level of talent in the Bluegrass State, and we look forward to a competitive year of competition versus Indiana.”
