John Ingram scored 19 points and Will Hager scored 18 on Thursday night to lead the Mercer County boys to an 81-58 victory over Spencer County in their final regular-season home game.
The Titans (15-10), playing for the third time in four days, led 24-9 after one quarter and were never threatened by the Bears (12-13).
Blake Pennington scored 11 points, Jordan Duncan had five rebounds and four blocked shots and Ingram had nine assists and six rebounds in their final home game.
“(They) led the way as the leaders they’ve been all year, and it was a total team effort to get a big win,” Mercer assistant coach Jeremy Brummett said. “(We were) very pleased with the way our team came out and competed on off, but most importantly on defense, getting stops when needed.”
Hager had a game-high 12 rebounds and Sims had six boards for Mercer.
Red Bird 69, Kentucky School for the Deaf 35 — At Beverly, Eric Young, the leading scorer in Kentucky, scored 26 points in the first half and finished with 42 to lead Red Bird (6-12) over KSD (5-19).
Young raised his average from 29.2 points per game to 29.9.
Adam Turner had 15 points, 13 rebounds and two blocked shots for KSD. Irvin Herrera added three assists and three steals for the Colonels.
Girls
East Jessamine 66, Burgin 58 — At Nicholasville, East Jessamine (15-7, 3-3 46th District) edged Burgin (13-11, 3-3) in a matchup between teams that will meet again in a district tournament semifinal in less than two weeks.
The teams split two regular-season games, with Burgin winning 59-58 on Jan. 12.
