Prep Softball: Boyle holds off Anderson for 4-3 victory
Lindsey Edwards turned an unassisted double play to allow Boyle County to escape a bases-loaded jam in the seventh inning and defeat Anderson County 4-3 Wednesday at Lawrenceburg.
Anderson (1-2) had loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning when Edwards caught a line drive at shortstop, then tagged third base to double up the lead runner and preserve the win for Boyle (3-2).
“It was a great heads-up play by Lindsey, a senior,” Boyle coach Brian Deem said. “To see her make that play sent a great vibe through the girls.”
The Rebels scored four runs in the third inning to take the lead after Anderson had jumped in front with an unearned run in the first.
Elysse Petrie earned the pitching win for Boyle.
“Elysse did a fantastic job pitching, and Heather (Hasty) did an excellent job calling the game,” Deem said.
