Approximately 150 community leaders, alumni and Asbury University supporters gathered Tuesday morning for the annual Asbury University President’s Breakfast for the Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce in the Dougherty Dining Room of the school’s cafeteria. Opening remarks were made by Lu Young, president of the Chamber of Commerce and county school superintendent, along with Asbury University President Dr. Sandra Gray. After a short buffet-style breakfast, program speaker and university provost Dr. Jon Kulaga spoke on several topics, including the Cargill grant of $300,000, the 95-percent pre-med and pre-law student-acceptance rate, and programs that have sent students to more than 66 countries worldwide. These programs are part of what Kulaga said makes Asbury a cut above other learning institutions — by creating “people ready for a waiting world.”
