From pizzas to pastas and calzones, Plain Box Pizza, located at 114 Williams Road, has much to offer its customers — including free delivery.
“Our little niche is free delivery because most other places now charge for delivery,” owner Roger Kirby said.
Plain Box opened in January, and since that time, Kirby said business has been brisk as his staff are starting to see more and more repeat customers.
“That’s something that we’ve really been tickled with,” Kirby said. “We’ve gotten a lot of good feedback.”
Plain Box’s specialty is the monster 18-inch pie.
“I think we’re the biggest around,” Kirby said. “Most places only carry a 16-inch pizza. We feel that our price for that pizza is extremely reasonable.”
But ultimately, Kirby, a 17-year veteran of the pizza business, said success hinges on satisfied customers.
“(If) we give a good product with free delivery, and we feel we can be just as competitive as anybody else out there, as far as big chains,” he said.
Kirby, a Louisville native, said when he discovered the Williams Road location, he knew right away it would be a great starting point.
“That little shop already had the equipment in it, and we decided to give Nicholasville and Wilmore another outlet for a pizza place,” Kirby said. “Our main thing is carry out and delivery.”
Kirby said great customer service, free delivery and freshly made dough is a recipe for success in Nicholasville.
Plain Box also serves an assortment of other items including chicken wings, salads and subs.
The store has eight employees and is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from noon until 10 p.m.
