The Nicholasville and Wilmore Lions Club want to thank the “good citizen of Jessamine County” for their generous donations supplies that went to East Bernstadt, one of the 29 counties damaged by high winds and tornadoes a few weeks ago, said Bobby Ellis, president of the Nicholasville club.
Ellis said there was “a ton of food, cleaning supplies, clothing, and hygiene products” that filled a 26-foot box truck to the brim.
The organization also wanted to thank Roy Lamb, who furnished the truck to take the supplies to East Bernstadt. Ellis said 68 homes were completely destroyed and 125 more damaged with at least 500 people affected. He said the supplies went to fill a need for a community that wasn't in the news as much as others.
