THURSDAY
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host Music City Brass on Thursday, July 12, at 1 p.m.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host movie night at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 12. This week’s movie is the 2011 film “Courageous.”
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a virtual field trip, “Cowboy Close-up,” from 2-3 p.m.
FRIDAY
— The Gospel on the Green concert series will feature Jonathan Hutcherson and The Diggles Family. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Downtown Green in Wilmore. Tables and chairs will be provided, or you may bring your own. Local food vendors will be on hand to sell their fare. Please bring a canned food item to donate to the local food pantry or pet food for the county’s new animal shelter.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host an “Art Alive” elementary program from 10:30 to noon. The library will also host an “Art Alive” teen and adult program from 2-4 p.m.
SATURDAY
— A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office at 859-885-4481.
— The Wilmore Farmers Market is now open for the 2012 season. Fresh produce and baked goods will be available each Saturday starting at 8 a.m. The market will be open rain or shine until 1 p.m. or until that week’s goods are sold out. The market is located in the city-hall parking lot.
— The Stonebridge summer Saturday-night concert series will feature Stringtown. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Downtown Green in Wilmore. Tables and chairs will be provided, or you may bring your own. SUNDAY
— Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera Bread, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.
— Nicholasville Church of Christ, located at 701 S. Main St., will host its Vacation Bible School each Sunday in July from 9:30-11 a.m. The VBS is open to children ages 1-10. Everyone is invited to stay for worship services after the VBS. This year’s theme is “The Treasures of the Forgotten Island.”
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a plant exchange from 1-5 p.m.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host an indoor drive-in movie at 2 p.m. This week’s movie will be “Born To Be Wild.”
MONDAY
— The Jessamine County Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and welcomes people 60 years of age and older. The center has a fully equipped exercise room and a thrift shop. The seniors meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Activities are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bus service and a hot lunch are available on a donation basis. For more information, call 859-885-9102.
