THURSDAY
— The Jessamine County Historical Society will host its monthly meeting July 26 at 7 p.m. This month’s guest speaker will be Mr. Gayle Lawrence. Lawrence will speak on the NASA space program in the 1960s. The society is located at 216 N. Main St., in the Farmers Square.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host piano for pleasure Thursday, July 26, at 1:15 p.m.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host movie night at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 26. That week’s movie is the 1941 film “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”
FRIDAY
— The Gospel on the Green concert series will feature Jim Shelton followed by The Samaritans. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Downtown Green in Wilmore. Tables and chairs will be provided, or you may bring your own. Local food vendors will be on hand to sell their fare. Please bring a canned food item to donate to the local food pantry or pet food for the county’s new animal shelter.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host an “Art Alive” elementary program from 10:30 to noon. The library will also host an “Art Alive” teen and adult program from 2-4 p.m.
SATURDAY
— A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office at 859-885-4481.
— The Wilmore Farmers Market is now open for the 2012 season. Fresh produce and baked goods will be available each Saturday starting at 8 a.m. The market will be open rain or shine until 1 p.m. or until that week’s goods are sold out. The market is located in the city-hall parking lot.
— The Stonebridge summer Saturday-night concert series will feature The Walnut Street Ragtime Ramblers. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Downtown Green in Wilmore. Tables and chairs will be provided, or you may bring your own. Local food vendors will be on hand to sell their fare. — The Jessamine County Public Library will host “Waggin’ Tales” from 1-3 p.m.
SUNDAY
— Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera Bread, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.
— The 52nd annual Teater family reunion will be held Sunday, July 29, in Nicholasville at City-County Park’s Blue Building. Doors will open at noon and lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Please bring a dish and join family and friends to make this a wonderful occasion. Chicken, ham and drinks will be provided. MONDAY
— The Jessamine County Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and welcomes people 60 years of age and older. The center has a fully equipped exercise room and a thrift shop. The seniors meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Activities are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bus service and a hot lunch are available on a donation basis. For more information, call 859-885-9102.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host summer story time for little ones at 10:30 a.m.
TUESDAY
— The TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) weight-loss support group meets from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Creekside Senior Apartments, 407 N. 2nd St. in Nicholasville. For cost and more information, contact Donald Wither at 859-312-7455.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host a body-recall class each Tuesday and Thursday during July.
